Failure in Paper Machine: Monitoring Prevents the Loss of USD 144,000

In the pursuit of efficiency and operational continuity, a paper industry company decided to initiate a proof of concept with Dynamox. The goal was clear: to identify and mitigate failures in its critical equipment, mainly the paper machine. What happened just one week after the installation of the sensors was surprising. The Dynamox solution generated savings of more than USD 144,000 and prevented the loss of 225 tons of paper.

Quick Identification of Failure in Paper Machine

Shortly after the installation of the HF+ sensors and data analysis on the Dynamox platform, we were able to issue a detailed report that identified a defect in the bearing of the main paper machine.

This information was crucial, as the failure of this component could result in at least 24 hours of downtime in the production of the entire line. Without the bearing functioning correctly, the machine simply would not operate and the company would stop producing tons of paper.

Assertive recommendations   

To make the diagnosis more accurate, Dynamox specialists conducted analyses that helped to highlight the lubrication-related problem.

The pattern revealed by the autocorrelation could be verified in the bearing. The grooves show that there was friction in a specific part of the component:

With the analysis in hand, our team recommended lubricating the bearing and monitoring its performance until the next scheduled downtime. This proactive approach allowed the client to perform maintenance in a planned manner, avoiding unexpected interruptions and ensuring production continuity.
